My background
November 2, 2023Forty-Six-Seven-Eight is the iconic representation of the breaking of one of sports most memorable records in the men's 400-meter hurdles. The accomplishment established an Olympic and world record that stood for almost three decades. In a way this symbolic iconography depicts my life growing up in Watts. It was this journey that exemplified my passion as a college track “walk-on” to becoming a two-time Division-1 champion. The year 1988 was my first Olympic team. Four years later I would become an Olympic Champion in Barcelona Games.
Through it all, it represents the influence of friends, family, and educators that shaped my growth, maturity, perseverance, and individualism. Thus the iconography has a strong esoteric meaning about my life in L.A. The elements of the mark is highlighted by my admiration for the 1968 Mexico City Olympic team.
